Ribbon Lift
The Ribbon Lift is a new procedure performed by Dr. Robert Severinac to treat sagging skin on face and neck. The Ribbon Lift is preformed in the office setting under local anesthesia. The incisions are in front and behind the ear much like a conventional facelift were a significant amount of excess skin is removed. A bioabsorbable ENDOTINE Ribbon™ is placed under the skin to hold the deeper tissues in the new elevated position during the early healing phase. The ribbons go on to dissolve in 2 to 3 months. The recovery time is one to two weeks. Results are thought to last up to 5 years. Face your future with the look of your past and call us to schedule your consultation!

Thermage®
Imagine having younger looking, more vibrant skin without surgery. The ThermageŽ procedure features the revolutionary new ThermaCool TCT device, which uses special radio frequency energy to tighten the skin. This high-tech device works by heating the collagen in the inner layers of the skin while keeping the outer layers cool with a refreshing spray. The heat tightens the collagen, giving the skin added plumpness and firmness. In some cases, a slight elevation of the skin is seen. To learn more about ThermaCool TCT, please contact our office today.

Facelift
Sun exposure, weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process can make skin loosen and sag, resulting in wrinkles and jowls. Facelift is a surgical procedure designed to eliminate wrinkles and smooth out the skin across the face, restoring your youthful appearance. Fresh, taut skin can make you look decades younger! During the procedure, discreet incisions are made along the hairline, ears, or chin, and excess skin is lifted and removed. The remaining skin is then smoothed, tightened, and carefully stitched in place. Dr. Severinac places his incisions so they are inconspicuous even with the hair pulled up. Facelifts are commonly performed in conjunction with other surgeries such as eye lift and lip crease dermabrasion for even more beautiful results. For further information about how facelift surgery can improve the contours of your face, please contact the Indiana Plastic Surgery Center today.

Neck Lift
If the skin under your chin or on your neck has begun to sag, you might be an excellent candidate for a neck lift. Dr. Severinac considers a face and neck lift to be one and the same. The vector of skin pull required to properly tighten the skin of the neck should be over the jaw and onto the cheeks, as well as toward the area behind the ear. The excess skin is removed from in front and behind the ear. Excess fat is often removed from below the chin. If you have any questions about neck lifts, please contact us today.

Forehead Lift
Lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows can contribute to a sad, angry, tired, or aged appearance. A forehead lift can smooth these areas and take years off your appearance, giving you a more refreshed look. The forehead lift can be done through incisions in the forehead, at the hairline, or above the hairline. For younger patients whose expressive nature has left brow wrinkles and some sagging, an endoscopic forehead lift is often the best approach. An endoscope (a slender, lighted tube with a miniature camera attached) is inserted into the incision and used to help lift the skin and remove some of the underlying muscles causing these wrinkles. Forehead lifts are often combined with other facial cosmetic procedures, including facelifts or eyelid surgery. To find out if a forehead lift is right for you, please contact our practice today.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
The nose is central to the appearance of the face. Changing the shape and size of your nose may be something you have wanted to do for a long time. Dr. Severinac can help you realize your goals, starting with an imaging program. He can manipulate your picture on a computer screen to reveal your possibilities for a more esthetically pleasing nose. During rhinoplasty, incisions are made along the rims of the nostrils to avoid visible scarring. The bone and/or cartilage are then sculpted for the desired look. Breathing problems can also be treated during rhinoplasty. If you think rhinoplasty might be the right procedure for you, please contact our office today for more information. |

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Are you tired of everyone asking, “Are you tired?” Droopy, puffy eyes and eyelids can make you appear older and more worn out than you actually are. Eyelid surgery can restore the skin around your eyes to its natural, youthful appearance and drastically reduce the signs of aging. During the eye lift, inconspicuous incisions are made along the eyelid creases, and excess fat, muscle, and skin are trimmed away from the eyelid. The remaining tissue is then lifted and carefully secured in place. Vision that is obstructed by drooping upper eyelids can also be corrected. If you would rather hear people say “you look so young” when they see you, call us today for more information.

Ear Pinning & Ear Deformity Surgery (Otoplasty)
Ear surgery is performed to correct misshapen or poorly formed ears and bring protruding ears closer to the head. With “ear pinning,” an incision is made behind the ear. The cartilage is sculpted and sutured to stay back (no pins are actually used). This procedure can be done at any time but is often best around age six to prevent ridicule at school. It drastically improves overall appearance and self-confidence. If you think you or a child you know might be a candidate for ear surgery, please contact us today to find out more.

Cheek & Chin Augmentation
A poorly defined chin or cheeks can give the face an overall weak appearance. This, in turn, can have a significant impact on self-image and esteem. Chin implants give the appearance of a stronger jaw, while cheek implants lend definition and improve the overall contour of the face. Implants can give the face a more balanced appearance. Facial implants are placed through inconspicuous incisions. To learn more about facial implants, please contact the Indiana Plastic Surgery Center today.

Lip Enhancement
Thin lips can detract from an otherwise beautiful face. Dr. Severinac prefers permanent lip implants to injectable fillers, because collagen and fat injections are painful, temporary, and need to be repeated every three to six months. The implants are made of a soft pliable material inserted into the muscle of the lip through discreet incisions at the corners inside the mouth. They produce fuller, more esthetically pleasing lips that will retain their shape over time. To find out more about lip augmentation, please call the Indiana Plastic Surgery Center today.

Scar Revision
Although scars cannot be erased, most obvious scars can be greatly improved. Topical products containing silicone gel can be effective in treating scars during the first year of healing. Scar massage is also helpful. Scar revision for injury or prior surgery is most often accomplished with excision and plastic surgery repair. Keep in mind that scars take one to two years to fully heal, so scar revision may not be recommended until such time has passed. Dermabrasion and laser treatment are best for scarring that is the result of acne. Here, the skin surrounding the acne scars is essentially sanded down to make the pot marks shallower and less noticeable. Please contact us today to learn more about scar revision.

Laser and Dermabrasion Skin Resurfacing
These modalities are most effective for conditions where a “sanding” of the skin is needed to improve appearance. One example is the radial wrinkles seen around the lips in smokers and those who purse the lips when expressing themselves. Another is in acne scarring (see Scar Revision). The skin is essentially sanded down to the deepest level of the scar making them less noticeable. The laser does this by evaporating the top layer of skin, while dermabrasion is done with a rotating fine diamond dust burr. The areas heal like an abrasion does. Usually, healing to the point of makeup application is seen in one week, and redness may be present for weeks to months as the area heals. Soon, your skin will look radiant and youthful. BOTOX® Cosmetic
Wrinkles between the eyebrows (frown lines), around the eyes (crow’s feet), and across the forehead are actually caused by overactive muscles just below the skin. Through a very small needle, BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into these areas to relax the underlying muscles. This smoothes out the wrinkles they are causing, giving you a more vibrant and youthful appearance. The effects typically last three to four months, but in some patients who learn to stop animating those parts of the face, the effect can last longer. Skin Injectable Fillers
Collagen injections have been used for decades to replenish the skin's suppleness and to help maintain its youthful appearance. Collagen is a safe, non-surgical treatment that can smooth out facial lines and wrinkles. Dr. Severinac prefers to use human, as opposed to bovine (derived from cows), collagen. This form of collagen should last longer, possibly indefinitely. Collagen injections can be repeated as necessary. Other fillers, such as Restylane®, are available and generally last a few months. Computer Imaging
Indiana Plastic Surgery Center offers advanced computer imaging during consultations to assist patients in visualizing their possible surgical outcomes. This imaging is especially helpful for those patients considering facial plastic surgery, particularly rhinoplasty and facial implants. During your initial exam, “before” pictures will be taken. Dr. Severinac will scan your photo into the imaging software. He then sits down with you in his private consultation room and manipulates the image to show you an approximation of your appearance following surgery. While no computer program can simulate all the variables of your individual face (such as skin elasticity, blood supply, underlying bone structure, and healing capacity) or guarantee results, computer imaging does provide the patient and doctor a way of getting on the “same page” in terms of goals and expectations. If you would like to learn more about computer imaging at Indiana Plastic Surgery Center, please contact us today.
