At Indiana Plastic Surgery Center is the longest existing plastic surgery practice in Fort Wayne. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art cosmetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgery in a peaceful office setting and a consciencious, no pressure approach. Most of our staff have been with us for over 17 years and this experience shows in every interaction with our patients. Our practice also has a strong focus on continuing education. Dr. Severinac continually reviews the newest techniques in medical literature at seminars and with colleagues in order to offer his patients the latest advances in the field. He has continued to maintain board certification with the American Board of Plastic Surgery with recertification in 2007. He is in the process of recertifying having passed the written exam with 98% score.

A skilled and artistic surgeon, Dr. Severinac combines a true love of surgery with state-of-the-art plastic and reconstructive techniques and his creative mind. He has been in private practice since 1995 and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This certification, the “gold standard” for plastic and reconstructive surgery, requires rigorous training and examinations. In addition, Dr. Severinac is the co-founder and co-director of the Children’s Craniofacial Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The center specializes in a team approach to treating cleft lip and palate. Dr. Severinac’s passion for helping children with deformities was fundamental to his decision in becoming a plastic surgeon.
After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Kalamazoo College in Michigan, Dr. Severinac went on to earn his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class and earning membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for his scholastic honors and extracurricular contributions to the community. He then completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residency training in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by a fellowship in Charlotte, North Carolina, emphasizing craniofacial surgery, which is where his skills in cleft lip and palate and aesthetic surgery were honed. He began practicing Plastic surgery in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1995.
Dr Severinac chose plastic surgery through the typical medical school evolution. Initially he thought he would be a pediatrician. In his first rotation, pediatrics was satisfying but something was miising. His second rotation was in General Surgery in which he immediately realized that using his hands and creativity was going to be a part of his profession. His third rotation was in Plastic Surgery and his first case was the repair of a babies cleft lip and palate. It all came together and he pursued traingin in Plastic Surgery.
Through the years, Dr. Severinac has realized that the satisfaction he feels after reconstructing a babies face is the same as when he improves someones appearance. This is why he likes to think of his patients as his "Babies" and delivers the same level of passion and expertise to his cosmetic surgery patients.
Dr. Severinac maintains active membership in several prestigious professional societies. These include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate Association, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
The 20 years of private practice has continued to bless Dr. Severinac. Primarily through word of mouth, Dr. Severinac has developed a very successful broad practice in plastic surgery to help his patients improve their appearance. Dr. Severinac believes in the positive impact plastic surgery can have oone's self-esteem and overall health. Many medical ailments are have their roots in anxiety, which is related to low self-esteem. Properly planned and performed plastic surgery can drastically improve self esteem, decrease anxiety, and improve health.
Dr. Severinac frequently extends this value system to the less fortunate frequently performing reconstructive surgery for children with facial deformities from the US, Africa and China, at no charge. His extremely successful cosmetic practice affords him to do this. So when a cosmetic plastic surgery patient says "I feel guilty doing this when there are so many that are needy:, he points out that it his thriving plastic surgery practice allows him to do the missionary work for children with deformities.
The only thing Dr. Severinac enjoys more than plastic surgery is being with his family. He is blessed with his wife of 20 years and four children. His family is being raised with Christian teaching and values. When not practicing his passion in plastic surgery, Dr. Severinac channels his creativity into music. He is a musician and a composer (piano, acoustic guitar, vocals, 12 string guitar, slide guitar, merlin guitar, harmonica, percussion). He often jokes "If this plastic surgery thing doesn't work out, I'll just be a rock star." :)
